Armies Of Middle Ages
A tribal war band which was carried over from ancient times is the first medieval army. Each year, Fief holders were required for military service on a weekly or monthly basis. In military, the Fief holders were accompanied by professional soldiers. In later years, money was sent by the vassals in the name of “Martial Tax” instead of being served at the army, which helped the kings to develop the armies. Several commoners joined the ranks for good pay by the fourteenth and fifteenth century. By the middle ages, the weapons and armor of dead soldier were sold and the knits which were captured in war were ransomed.
